Three suspects, including two boys, have been arrested after a gang-related group attack.
The suspect was identified as two teenagers, Joel Alonzo, 24, of Fillmore, 24, 16 and 17, according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.
On March 7, lawmakers received reports of a large group fight involving 15-20 people in the 800 block of Edison Lane, Fillmore at 5pm
By the time the deputies arrived, the suspect had fled. Authorities learned they were affiliated with a gang on Fillmore Street. During the investigation, deputies discovered a possible cause for arresting suspects for gang-related crimes.
That day, around 6:14pm, authorities found four people allegedly involved in the group’s fight.
As deputies approached them, they fled the area on foot. Two Joel Alonzo and a teenage suspect – were quickly arrested while two other suspects fled to a nearby orchard.
An extensive search was conducted with support from the Sheriff’s Air Unit, West County Special Executive Unit, Fillmore Patrol, Headquarters Patrol and Moore Park Patrol.
Around 6:52pm, a third suspect, a teenager, was found hiding under the chicken coop where he was arrested. Despite ongoing ground and air searches, the fourth suspect evaded authorities “due to the sturdy terrain that combines thick vegetation and darkness.”
Detectives later found additional evidence linking the suspect to the group’s attack. Alonzo was placed with a parole hold and he was booked at a pre-trial detention facility.
One boy was arrested for swinging firearms, lethal weapons, wielding street terrorism, obstructing, resisting and delaying peace officers.
The other boy was arrested for battery, street terrorism, and for obstruction, resistance or delay of peace officers. Both were quoted and later released to parents/guardians.
