Secretary of State Marco Rubio defended President Donald Trump’s airstrikes against Yemen’s Hooty rebels, claiming that the US “supports the world” by targeting extremist groups.

“We are giving the whole world a favor by removing these people and the ability to attack global transport. That’s our mission here and it will continue until it is implemented,” Rubio appeared on CBS’s “Face the Nation” on Sunday.

The comments allegedly claimed that terrorist groups are “emerging a relentless campaign of copyright, violence and terrorism against the United States and other vessels, aircraft and drones” after Trump announced on social media on Saturday that he ordered an airstrike on Yemeni rebels.

“It’s been more than a year since US packaged commercial vessels safely sailed through the Suez Canal, the Red Sea or the Gulf of Aden,” Trump said in the post. “The last American warship to pass through the Red Sea four months ago was attacked by more than dozens of Hoosis. These relentless attacks cost the US and the global economy billions of dollars, and at the same time risking innocent lives.”

“For all Houthi terrorists, your time has ended and your attacks must stop from today. If they don’t, hell will rain over you like something you’ve never seen before!”

The strike has come to deal with the ongoing disruption of Houthis’s ongoing disruption in the Red Sea.

“President Trump is taking action against Hoosis to defend US shipment assets and stop the threat of terrorists,” posted on X on March 15, 2025.

“This is not a message,” Rubio said. “This is an effort to deny them the ability to limit transport and continue to control them.”

Rubio said that the militant group supported by Iran “stripped 174 US naval vessels” last year.”

“So basically we have a guided, accurate anti-ship weapon and a Pirate band that is stricter on pay systems on one of the most important shipping lanes in the world,” Rubio said. “It’s not just sustainable.”

The Secretary of State said the strike will continue until Houthis “no longer capable” to continue such attacks.

“We’re not going to be sitting with people attacking the US Navy,” Rubio said. “That won’t happen. Not under President Trump.”
