A female pedestrian was attacked and killed in Playa del Rey on Sunday after a collision between two cars left the road and turned towards the beach, firefighters confirmed.
The incident occurred at 8,255 South Vista del Mar just after 7pm, according to a news release from the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Details are limited and it is unclear exactly how the crash occurred, but firefighters say the approximately 70-year-old driver suffered minor injuries after struck a woman and plunged into the beach in his car.

In the aftermath of the crash, posted on the Citizen app, most vehicles were dealt a lot of damage, allowing the male vehicle to be seen on the beach. The driver was also seen talking to police on the scene.

“Unfortunately, the (unknown age) female patient attacked by a car exceeded medical assistance and was determined to have died at the scene,” the firefighter said on his release.
A white canopy covered the victim’s body just behind the crashed vehicle resting.
Preliminary reports suggest that Vista del Mar, a road, was closed to traffic while investigators were working at the scene.
No information is provided about the other second driver involved in the accident.
So far, police have not released any information about the ongoing investigation, but there are no indications that drugs or alcohol are factors in the crash.
