The 15-year-old motorcyclist tried to hide in a small river while being chased by Ventura police on Saturday evening.
The Ventura Police Department said it was 7:36pm when patrol officers saw the teen commit a traffic violation near the intersection of Johnson Drive and telephone roads.
The officer then attempts to pull the boy closer, but he escapes on an electric bike – Talaria’s stab wound.
The pursuit of the vehicle began as the officer tried to stay with the suspect.
To avoid officers, police said the teens entered a brown barranca (a narrow river canyon) located south of the phone road.
More officers responded to the area and set up a boundary in Barranca that includes suspects.
“The tracking officers are also drone operators,” the department added in the release. “The officers set up the drone and within minutes they were able to find the suspect.”
Authorities said that boundary officers were then led towards the teenager by using drones and ultimately detained him.
“Once detained, officers realized the suspect was a juvenile,” the release said.
Due to his age, authorities identified the suspect as a 15-year-old male teenager from Ventura.
Police cited the 15-year-old as a reckless evasion (felony) and a driver without a license (violation).
However, despite the charges being a felony, the teenager said he was not eligible to be booked at the juvenile hall.
Instead, the officer released him to his parents and closed his bike.
