Former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo shows off his fundraising skills as he runs for mayor of the country’s most populous city.
The former three-term New York governor, who resigned amid multiple scandals in 2021, announced Monday that he has secured more than $1.51 million in funding over 13 days in 13 days since declaring his candidacy for mayor of New York City.
In an email release Monday, Cuomo’s campaign described the former governor’s fundraising during his comeback bid as “unprecedented.”
The campaign said the donations came from 2,821 supporters. He also emphasized that more than a quarter of the funds raised can qualify up to 8:1 in public matching funds if approved by the New York City Campaign Finance Committee.

New York City Council speaker Adrian Adams jumped into the race four days after Cuomo, raising $128,000 in the first five days of the campaign.
Candidates will need to report funding and spending at the mayoral race until Monday night.
The latest polls show that Cuomo is at the clear frontline, as New Yorkers continue to sour Adams.

Thanks to his near-universal recognition of the name among New Yorkers, Cuomo was topped with a mayoral poll, even before he announced his candidacy on March 1st.
And Cuomo, who enjoys the support of a well-funded super PAC, backed by deep pocket allies, ahead of the city’s June 24th Democratic mayoral primary, in the latest poll, is likely to determine who will win the November general election.

However, the 2025 mayoral race is clearly going to lose Cuomo, with his rival focusing on the former governor’s immeasurable political baggage.
Cuomo fought to clear his name after 11 sexual harassment charges he repeatedly denied over the past four years – forcing him to resign as governor in August 2021.

Adams’ polls sank before he was charged with five counts last year. This denounced the mayor of bribery and fraud as part of a “long-term” scheme to personally benefit from contact with foreigners.

The mayor repeatedly overtured current President Donald Trump, and in recent weeks the Justice Department has moved to dismiss corruption charges, so he appears to be working with the Trump administration in cracking down on illegal immigration.
New York City’s top federal prosecutor resigned rather than complying, claiming that the mayor agreed to Quid Pro Quo with the Department of Justice.
