Winner of the $1.2 billion lottery jackpot – The player who broke the odds by matching all six numbers drawn at the Mega Millions in December was selected on Monday.
The winner, identified as Rosemary Casalotti by California lottery officials, who are required under state law to publicly identify winners, purchased a victory ticket at Sunshine Food and Gas on Dec. 27 at 3505 Rhonda Road, Cottonwood, officials said.
The lottery did not provide details of the biographical information about Casarlotti.
Number combinations: 3, 7, 37, 49, 55, and Mega Number 6 and 3x “Megaplier”.
Casarotti chose not to attend during the announcement Monday. She chose to photograph a lump sum of prize money, which amounts to over $570 million.
According to The Lottery, the Jackpot was the largest Mega Millions award in history. The chances of drawing all five of the wins and mega numbers were one out of 303.5 million.
Before the December victory, the Jackpot only won three times in 2024. This is the least victory in any year since the game began in 2002.
At the time, the jackpot had grown since September 10th. This has grown since September 10th, when players won a $810 million award from tickets sold at gas stations in Texas.
According to the lottery, the last $6 billion jackpots have all won in various states. In 2023, Florida won the highest jackpot in any state of $1.6 billion.
