When the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office lamented the loss of Deputy Hector Kuevas Jr. in a crash crash while pursuing in Victorville, nearby law enforcement believes the man will “run away from law enforcement and put the safety of the people at risk” and believes he should still be behind the prison.
In a press release, the Rialto Police Department explained that Ryan Turner, a 22-year-old man from San Bernardino, “has a history of extensive criminal arrests,” leading the high-speed pursuit that led to the crash on January 29, 2024.

After that pursuit, Turner was sentenced to 16 months without pleading a dispute on a massive stolen vehicle charge.
However, he received credit for his time served in the county jail, and Turner was released just eight months later.
“Our hearts are broken for the adjutant’s family,” Kling said, “The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department should not prepare for its own burial.”
“Their losses are law enforcement losses,” Kling said. “Ryan Turner’s actions speak loudly that he has a habitual pattern of law enforcement where he escapes because he is not afraid of consequences.”
