The US Postal Service is improving service standards to improve delivery predictability and reliability, while generating an estimated $36 billion in savings over the next decade.
Adjustments affect first-class emails, periodicals, marketing emails, and packaging services (such as bound print, media emails, library emails, etc.).
The improvements occur in two phases, April 1st and July 1st.
Improvements maintain standard date ranges for existing First Class Postal Service and USPS Ground Advancement Services, ensuring standard First Class email delivery does not exceed five days.

Additionally, the changes are as follows:
Improve service predictability and reliability. We offer 2-3 day turnaround service within a specific area. Introduces flexibility in local transportation schedules. This could extend service for one day for mail collected at a particular post office, but it would increase overall delivery speeds across regions.
USPS has also introduced new online tools and fact sheets to help customers understand the expected delivery times.

Now available: PostalPro service standard specifications and the revised service standard API for the USPS Developer Portal.
Starting March 24th: Customers can check usps.com’s service standards by entering their ZIP code and postal date. Interactive maps are also available to display expected delivery times based on email classes.
