Authorities are offering a $30,000 reward for information on the murder of a man killed while riding a bicycle in Los Angeles County.
On May 14, 2023, 32-year-old Jose Manuel Wrangel returned home after visiting his mother on Mother’s Day.
As he proceeded across the Clara Street Bridge in Cadahee, he was suddenly approached by two male suspects.
It is unclear what was said, but the situation quickly escalated into a physical altercation, according to investigators with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
During the fight, one suspect pulled out a handgun and shot Wrangel several times, killing him. Both suspects fled the scene on foot and headed west down the bridge. They are exactly what remains.
“He was a beloved son, uncle, brother and friend,” said Sandra Wrangel, a family member.

“When we got the call it was incredible,” said Juan Carlos Ponce, the victim’s brother. “If anyone has any information about what happened, please speak up. Make us peaceful. I miss my mother’s smile.”
My loved ones read a letter saying, “Jose saved my life many times, but I wasn’t there to save the life that day, so all I can do now is to have faith that someone will come forward.”
A press conference was held on Thursday to announce the compensation for information about the suspects relating to the person responsible for the murder of Wrangel.
The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors approved the $20,000 reward, while the city of Cudahy gave an additional $10,000.
The suspects are:
Hispanic male ages 25-30, between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 8 inches tall. Finally, a Hispanic man between 25 and 30 years old, wearing a blue hat, surgical mask, black shirt and dark-colored jeans, 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall. I last saw it wearing a black shirt and red shorts
“Murder investigators are urging those with information to move forward,” LASD said. “Even small details are important in bringing justice to Jose and his family.”
