Fox News poll: Voters are divided into Trump’s policies

After 60 days of inauguration and over 90 executive orders, the latest Fox News polls found voters split into several details on President Donald Trump’s agenda.

A survey released Thursday found that the most popular policy was to find trans women being banned from women’s sports, with voters backing 38 points (68% support, 30% against).

Trump signed an executive order on February 5th to “demote men out of women’s sports.”

Voters also support the official US language (66% favor, 32% disagree), deporting illegal immigrants (63%-35%), and the US only accepts two genders (54%-44%), and increasing drilling and oil production (53%-44%).

They are more divided by reducing the number of federal employees (46% favors, 51% disagreement) and reducing diversity, equity and inclusion programs (45%-51%).

The most preferred Trump proposal will take over the Panama Canal (39% favor, 57% disagree), close the Ministry of Education (32%-65%), rename the Gulf of Mexico (31%-67%), and take over Greenland (26%-70%).

Fox News poll: Trump, Democrats roam and Republican

Trump signed an executive order on Thursday to dismantle the Department of Education.

“Trump’s more glamorous ideas about expanding US territory and holdings limit public support, says Daron Shaw, a Republican poll conducting a Fox News survey with Democrat Chris Anderson. “But in some of his more specific cultural and social policies, there is a great support for a wider constituency.”

Partisan opinions differ depending on the issue, but partisan voters differ as expected in these policies. Democrats, for example, are heavily opposed to Trump on the issue while Republicans support him, but the top three issues remain the same on both sides. Trans women will ban women’s sports (43% Democratic support, 90% Republicans), deport English officials (39%, 91%) and illegal immigrants (35%, 90%).

Deporting illegal immigrants is a popular policy position, but two-thirds of voters believe that children born to illegal immigrants within the United States should automatically become US citizens. Furthermore, support for this scale has risen by 20 points compared to 15 years ago.

Fox News poll: Voters are concerned about doges, even as they see the need for cuts

The attitude towards shutting down the Ministry of Education is perhaps the sharpest difference along partisan lines. Most Democrats (92%) and independents (81%) oppose closing it, with two-thirds of Republicans supporting it (63%).

A little more…

– Seven in 10 people are concerned that Trump’s enforcement actions could forever change the country’s system of checks and balance. This is similar to how voters felt about former President Barack Obama’s use of executive action in 2014.

– Tarif is seen primarily through a negative lens, and voters believe they are likely to harm the US economy (53% harm vs. 28% help), making the product more expensive (more than 69% vs. 7%). The majority support tariffs on products from China (55% favor), but against products from Mexico (56% opposed) or Canada (61% opposed).

– Voters agree that government spending is large or almost all spending (57%), but the majority negatively rate Trump’s issue handling (only 56% fair or poor), not enough thoughts are concerned, and plans are cut (65%).

The FOX News survey, conducted under the direction of Beacon Research (D) and Shaw & Company Research (R) from March 14-17, 2025, includes interviews with a sample of 994 registered voters randomly selected from voter files across the country. Respondents either spoke with live interviewers on landlines (123) and mobile phones (648) or completed the survey online after receiving texts (223). The results based on the complete sample have a margin of sampling error of ±3 percentage points. Higher sampling errors associated with results between subgroups. In addition to sampling errors, the language and order of questions can affect the outcome. Weight generally applies to age, race, education, and local variables, ensuring that respondents’ demographics represent the registered voter population. Sources for developing weight goals include American Community Survey, voter analysis for Fox News, and voter file data.
