The suspect was arrested on charges of allegedly fraudulent an elderly man worth thousands of dollars while pretending to be an FBI agent.
The suspect was identified as Quan Lin, 53, of Elmonte, according to the Elmonte Police Station.
On March 17, the victim, a 73-year-old man from Redland, received a call from Lin, who reportedly claimed he was an FBI agent.
Lynn reportedly told the victim that he would be arrested for having child porn on a computer, unless he handed him $25,000.
The victim was told to withdraw cash from the ATM, put the money in an envelope and wait for the courier to pick up the cash from his home. The courier arrived and the money was collected.
The next day, the victim received another call from the suspect, and the FBI told him there was a warrant for his arrest, but he would need to provide another $35,000.

The victim decided to contact the police. When he arrived at the victim’s house, Lynn was taken into custody.
He was arrested for crimes against an elder or dependent adult, grand theft, and theft for false pretenses. He is being held on $250,000 bail.
Lin is linked to similar fraud in other communities, authorities said. The case is under investigation.
Millions of elderly Americans fall victim to financial and fraud each year, according to the FBI.
“Residents are encouraged to be vigilant,” Redlands police said. “Beware of those who request unsolicited communications or money, gift cards or other valuables. Law enforcement officers will not request payments to avoid arrest.”
