The Oxnard man, who previously worked as an English teacher in the city, will serve in state prisons for 16-24 months after admitting to owning hundreds of images of child pornography.
Aaron Wayne Boofard, 55, was sentenced to prison Wednesday, according to the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office. He will serve 16 months in possession of child sexual abuse material, admitting to saving over 600 images and maintaining two years for violating the terms of probation.
The statements are executed simultaneously. This means he will spend up to 24 months in prison.
Bouffard was previously a teacher at Oxnard’s Rio Mesa High School, but has not worked in the school since his 2021 child risk conviction.

He was arrested in September 2024 by members of the Ventura Police Station. He was later arrested after the Department of Homeland Security began investigating an online sale of child pornography by suspects who later revealed he was a boofard.
A search warrant revealed hundreds of images of child sex abuse material from multiple devices in his home.
The District Attorney’s Office had sought longer sentences and special claims related to the number of images he had stored on his device. According to the DA’s office, the special claim was dismissed by a sentencing judge and was ultimately given a short sentence.
“Possession of child pornography causes irreparable harm to vulnerable children,” Associate District Attorney Catherine Plante said. “As a former teacher, parent, and felony probationist, the defendant should have understood better than anyone else’s responsibility to all of us share in protecting our children.”
