Many of the major democratically run cities across the United States have doubled in resisting the Trump administration’s crackdown on illegal immigration, with law enforcement in two major Texas cities now warning ice of encounters with illegal immigration.

This comes after ICE filed an administrative warrant with the National Crime Information Centre to arrest and deport around 700,000 illegal immigrants.

The Houston Chronicle first reported that police officers from Texas’ largest city would call federal immigration authorities whenever they encounter illegal immigrants with federal administrative warrants.

In line with this policy, Houston Police Department officials will be instructed to communicate with ICE when illegal immigrants with administrative warrants are detected. Officers are then instructed to discuss options for assigning illegal immigrants to ICE custody.

According to Chronicle, this policy has already been implemented. The outlet reported that Jose Armando Reine Agueta, a 40-year-old Salvador national who is illegally present in the country, has been arrested on ice after his name appeared in the system during regular traffic stops by Houston police.

Meanwhile, local outlet news 4 San Antonio is Texas’ second-largest city and the seventh-largest in the US, San Antonio police are following similar policies, reporting local ICE officials to meet illegal immigrants who appeared at the National Crime Information Center.

The outlet has obtained an email sent to officers of the San Antonio Police Station. There, the officers “please contact the ICE Law Enforcement Services Center…and they asked that ICE officers come to the scene and arrest the individual.”

The types of illegal actors that may appear in the system include previously deported felons, aliens who have been previously ordered to be deported or removed, and individuals who have been ordered to be deported or removed, as well as citizen immigrant detainees, according to the email.

The San Antonio Police Department did not respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment by the time of release.

However, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, the department’s sister agency, told Fox News Digital that it has not directly warned of ice on illegal immigrant encounters, but it has a coordination policy with ICE and is visiting the county jail to regularly interview immigration officers.

Deputy Sheriff Bexar Johnny Garcia told Fox News Digital that ICE officials enter the county jail to interview them as often as they “every three hours.”

The Sheriff’s Office will also provide ice enforcement and removal operations personnel with 48-hour notice if illegal immigrants with immigrant detainees are due to be released from prison.

“They are visiting prisons just to get in touch with new people who could be arrested, so there’s no interference in that regard,” he explained. “They come in like any other law enforcement officer with access and authority to enter prison for official purposes. They have the ability to enter prisons and do business when necessary.”

Garcia told Fox News Digital that its policy to work with ICE is in line with all state and federal laws.

“We do what we need by law,” he said.

An ICE spokesperson told Fox News Digital that the agency “has not commented on the agency’s internal methods of operational security reasons,” but that the use of administrative arrest warrants is “an important tool to protect public safety and reduce the amount of taxpayer resources needed to fund law enforcement at all levels of government.”

“ICE will leverage all available law enforcement resources to actively pursue these aliens to restore the law and order of our communities to the integrity of our country’s immigration law,” he said. “By using all the legal means to carry out our important mission, we not only strengthen public safety, national security and border security, but also reduce the threats our officers face every day as we bravely go out into our communities to arrest these violent offenders.”
