Federal authorities announced this week that Crips members and associates (including Eugene “Big U” Henry) in the 60s were charged in a vast criminal case.
Henry, who helped launch rapper Nipesy Hustle’s career, has been charged with federal complaints of committing “mafia-like” crimes that have committed a series of assault crimes, including fear, human trafficking, fraud and the 2021 murder of an aspiring rap musician.
Henry first appeared in court on Thursday afternoon in a white t-shirt, black sweatpants and laceless Nike sneakers. I watched about 20 family members and friends walked to court with their hands in front of him and their feet tied up.
He will remain in federal custody until at least March 31st until the detention hearing.
Who is the Rollin ’60s?
Rollin’s 60s neighbourhood clip takes its name from the numbered street between Slauson and Florence Avenues. According to a 1992 article, they were one of the first creeks or “sets” of clips that gush out in the area.
In a 107-page federal complaint that accused Henry and others, FBI agent Andrew Lusa described the 60s as “a violent criminal street gang with a set associated in several other states.”
Among their most famous members is Hustle, who cried out the gang in the intro to his groundbreaking 2013 mixtape “Crenshaw.” Hustle was killed in 2019 by fellow members of the Rollin’60s.
Henry is a member of the Rollin ’60s recognized as an “original gang” or “OG” and is “OG.”
Law enforcement called Henry the leader in the Rolling of the ’60s, but Skiptownsend, a gangster interventionist in Los Angeles, said there was “no leader.” He added that the group “is not constituted as a gang. There is no hierarchy.”
The FBI began an investigation into the Rollin ’60s in August 2020, according to federal complaints accusing Henry and others. The following year, the federal agency began an investigation into the relationship between Big U Enterprise and the Rollin ’60s.
The complaints say Henry is bigger than the ’60s members, including Hustl.
Why are you being criticized?
After years of FBI investigation, federal authorities accused Henry of fatally shooting him in the face with a lunatic and leaving his body in the desert of Las Vegas, engulfing him. He is also accused of directing the robbery of an unauthorized La Marijuana clinic that stopped paying for the Frightor.
Henry is also allegedly scamming businesses, donors, athletes and celebrities, including professional basketball player Draymond Greene and former NBA MVP Shaquille O’Neill.
Authorities also accused Henry of fraudulently obtaining funding from gang reduction and youth development programs overseen by the LA mayor’s office. His nonprofit, Development Options, was allocated $2.35 million by the city from July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2023. Henry’s organization is one of more than 20 people involved in Grid.
In a statement, Mayor Karen Bass de Marcas Finnel said the city has “no tolerance for fraud and has seen an increase in monitoring the grid program over the past two years.”
“The city is under strict surveillance, but the complaint advocates sophisticated efforts to oversee many funding paths, including the city,” Finnell said. “This alleged conduct does not reflect the work of the entire GRYD programme, which has led to a dramatic decline in gang-related violence across the city for the second year in a row.”
How did you respond?
Before he surrendered to the authorities, Henry made a video denounced allegations against him with internet gossip. In recent years, social media posts have accused Henry of killing Rayshaun Williams.
Authorities nodded to it in a federal complaint, noting that within days of Williams’ death, several people had asked Henry for an answer to what happened to RW, but they all went without responding.”
“Sending shit on the internet, promoting what they’re saying, and all Ya’ll listening are all those who support this,” Henry said in one video, referring to the accusations made against him.
Henry had not addressed the murder specifically in his video, but he called the allegations against him “bull crap.”
“Are I committed to cover up in the development of options? I’m not committing any crimes and I’m not hiding anything in the development of development,” Henry said.
Who else was indicted?
The biggest name on the list was Henry, but authorities also announced that they had requested 18 other members and companions from the 60s.
Henry, Mark Martin, aka Bear Claw, and Vay, aka Sylvester Robinson, are charged with violating the Assaulter Influence and Corrupted Organization Act (RICO). Martin, Chief Financial Officer of Options Development, is well known in the world of gang intervention and is believed to have led many young people.
Rapper Termaine Ashley Williams, known as Luce Cannon, has been arrested in Las Vegas and charged with robbery. In the complaint, Lusa described Williams’ involvement in the robbery of an uncertified marijuana clinic in Los Angeles, which is said to be in Henry’s direction.
Lusa wrote that Williams later admitted to robbing the “no jumper” podcast. The podcast episode was removed, Lusa wrote after it was said that Henry issued a halt and assumed order.
Henry allegedly paid Armani Afleje $1,000 to transport three women from California to Las Vegas to engage in prostitution. Afregier later spoke to the FBI, Rusa wrote, admitting to promoting prostitution, noting that she is known for “bringing hoes.”
In a later eavesdropped phone, investigators said investigators would request sex trafficking based on Henry’s recordings, which stated that Henry could find the woman.
“Shit, you’re going to get me and say my crime is that girls send money for sex. Is that my crime? So does adult girls. Are you listening to me? “We’re talking about adult women.”
Afleje is being charged with transporting personals in interstate commercial with intent to engage in prostitution.
Frederick Blanton and Tiffany Hines are being charged with bank fraud.
Authorities also accused YouTube’s personality with the rapper known as Christian Forbes, aka Bass, Danabian Hughes, Lamont Green, Zihirr Mitchell and Bricc Baby.
Joshua Hara and Zachary Garcia (a.k.a. Z) are charged with the distribution of methamphetamine and possession of a firearm that promotes crime. Ron Antoine Britten, aka Ronnie Mac, is accused of owning it with the intent to distribute cocaine.
Derrick Andrew Pollard (aka Grimsky) is a felon with a firearm and is accused of being in charge of the distribution of meta.
According to the US Lawyer’s Office in LA, Phuoc Kien Huynh and Bryan Mejia are charged with various numbers of felonies and undocumented immigrants in possession of firearms and handling firearms without a license based on sale from new leaf clothing, a Korean store.
Thiyon Jones (aka Blueface) is being charged with possession of a machine gun. Jaiquan Smith, aka Jay Jay, aka Hydeparc Blue, is accused of being a felon in possession of ammunition that sells firearms and ammunition.
In a video made before he surrendered, Henry said authorities arrested people for “I won’t talk.”
“What do they say?” Henry said. “You ruin people’s lives.”
