Trump administrators who draw legal status of immigrants over 530k

According to a federally registered notification, the Trump administration will revoke the temporary legal status of more than half a million immigrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela.

Approximately 532,000 immigrants are told to leave the country prior to humane parole, and their work permits will be cancelled on April 24th, giving the month when the notification was officially made public on March 25th.

Immigrants were allowed to fly directly to the United States after applying from abroad under a policy launched during the Biden administration, which was designed to open legal immigration routes, but President Donald Trump halted the program when he took office in January.

The program, CHNV, has allowed immigrants and their close relatives to jump into the United States if they have American sponsors. They were then able to remain in the country for two years under a temporary immigration status known as parole.

The program, launched in 2022, was first applied to Venezuelans before expanding to additional countries.

The Biden administration had argued that CHNV would help reduce illegal crossings at the southern border and allow for better screening of those entering the country amid the influx of immigrants entering through the US-Mexico border.

Trump’s Department of Homeland Security criticized the Biden administration on Friday, claiming the program failed to meet its goals, the BBC reported.

The agency said in a statement that Biden officials “give it to them.” [migrants] Opportunities to compete in American jobs and undercut American workers. Even if fraud was identified, they were forced to promote civil servants to career civil servants. He then condemned Republicans in Congress for the confusion that followed and subsequent crimes. ”

However, a notification in the federal register said that some U.S. immigrants under the CHNV could be allowed to remain in the country on a case-by-case basis.

According to the BBC, CHNV has helped around 213,000 Haitians enter the United States, out of over 120,700 Venezuelans, 110,900 Cubans and over 93,000 Nicaraguans amid the degradation of their country.

Last month, DHS announced plans to terminate another immigration designation, temporary protection status, or TPS for half a million Haitians legally living in the United States. The TPS was given to immigrants from designated countries facing dangerous situations, including armed conflict.

The agency also terminated the TP for Venezuelans living in the US, which has been challenged in court.

Since taking office in January as part of his immigration agenda, Trump’s efforts to eliminate legal and illegal immigrants from the United States have faced many legal obstacles.

The Trump administration is also reportedly dismantling DHS’s internal watchdog, including its office for civil rights and civil liberties, according to Bloomberg News.
