President Donald Trump called the US-Canada border “artificial lines,” but refused to say whether Canada will tilt to the right or to the left when it becomes a nation.

Trump’s comments on Friday came at a press conference at the Oval Office amid a controversy over the president that Canada calls “the 51st state.”

Fox News’ Peter Doucy asked the president if he would “worried” about whether Canada would become a very blue state.

Canadian politicians argue that Trump administrators’ “51st State” rhetoric is “an act of war.”

“It’s artificial lines painted in the sand and ice,” Trump said. “You add it to this country – what a beautiful land. The most beautiful land in the world.

“That would be great,” he continued.

Trump avoided the question and said, “I don’t care who’s getting caught up in it.”

“Frankly, [it] If you want to know the truth, you’ll probably do better with liberals than with conservatives,” he replied.

Trump mentioned former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau during the exchange he specifically called “Governor Trudeau.”

Trudeau resigned as Liberal leader and the country’s prime minister in early January, following rising pressure and criticism from within his own party and threats collected by the then presidential players.

Former Canadian bank governor Mark Carney acquired liberal leadership earlier this month, replacing Trudeau.

“I think Canada is like a lot of other places. If there’s a good candidate, the candidate will win,” Trump said.

Canadian new prime minister and Trump critic Mark Carney have been accused of not being contacted by “normal people.”

Canadian lawmaker Charlie Angus recently claimed that the Trump administration repeatedly referred to Canada as the US “51st nation,” and committed “acts of war” to level the tariffs on its people.

“Well, I think Marco Rubio probably needs to be sent back to school, because when someone says they have no right to have a country, it’s an act of war. When you rip, arbitrally, voluntarily, threaten the contract and say you’re going to destroy the country, it’s an act of war.

Trump leveled 25% tariffs on all steel and aluminum imports from other countries in early March, but Canada has been set to face a 25% tax on all imports from April 2nd.
