Mother charged with killing her son three days later at Disneyland

A woman who allegedly killed her son in a hotel room in Orange County three days later at Disneyland was charged with murder on Friday.

Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer confirmed the charges in a news release and was said to be called “the cruelest twist of fate.”

Irvine’s Salisa Ramaraj, 48, also faces an increased felony of personal use of weapons, knifes.

“The safest place for a child should be in the arms of their parents,” Spitzer said. “Instead of wrapping her arms in love around her son, she slit his throat and removed him from the world she had brought with her with the most cruel twist of fate.”

Salisa Ramaraju, 48, of Irvine, can be seen in booking photos from Santa Ana Police Station.

According to Spitzer, Ramaraj took his 11-year-old son on a three-day trip to Disneyland during a custody visit early in the week. On Wednesday, she was scheduled to return her son to her father and divorced in 2018.

She and the boy were staying at La Quintin, in the 2700 block of Santa Ana’s hotel terrace at the time of the incident.

At about 9:12am on Wednesday, Ramaraju called 911 and told the operator he had killed his son and took pills in an attempt to take his life.

When officers from the Santa Ana Police Station arrive, they find the body of a boy in a motel bed surrounded by Disneyland souvenirs. Prosecutors said the boy appears to have been dead for several hours before Ramaraju called 911.

Police responded to a fatal stab wound at 11-year-old in La Quintaine, Santa Ana on March 19, 2025 (KTLA)

A large knife was found in the room. It was purchased Tuesday, Spitzer said.

Ramaraj was scheduled to be officially arrested on Friday. If she is convicted of her felony murder charge and increased felony, she could face 26 years of life in prison.

Harris Siddiq, Senikh, the senior assistant district attorney for the murders, is indicting the case.
