The popular Jam Band Goose has announced the departure of the drummer over alleged personal “action” issues.
In a statement posted on social media on Sunday, the group revealed that Jeff Arevalo is no longer part of the band, but cites an inexplicable “unfortunate, unexpected situation.”
“We have been aware of Jeff’s actions in his personal life that do not align with the band’s core values,” the statement read. “It’s clear that this is the only way to do this as we continue to commit to maintaining the value that defines our community.”
Formed in Connecticut in 2014, Goose has toured relentlessly thanks to the enduring charm of psychedelic rock, popularized by its Grateful Dead, Fish, String Cheese Incident, and other contemporaries.

Arevalo, who joined Goose in 2020, issued his own statement on Monday. In it, he acknowledged a “personal crisis” that caught the band’s attention in January but shared little about its nature. He said he took a mental health break and received a “program” in Washington State.
“I studied emotional issues, talked to many counselors, worked in a group therapy environment with an open mind and heart,” Arevalo wrote. “I journaled every day, wrote poetry and played music with my roommates.”
After quitting the program, Arevalo said he received an email from Goose’s lawyer informing him of his dismissal.
“I don’t feel that I’ve been properly respected, valued, or used properly between the organization,” he said, adding that I refused to sign a private agreement.
“I often wish Goose on their journey, pursuing the songwriting process, creative direction and other opportunities to work in a proper, equitable environment.”
