The California Lottery launches a revamped Mega Millions painting at 8pm on Tuesday, April 8th, what does this mean?
According to the California lottery, the new game costs $5 instead of $2, and the chances of winning a prize are 1:23 instead of 1:24.

The starting jackpot will reset to $50 million instead of the typical $20 million. Built-in random multiplier increases the non-jackpot award by 2x, 3x, 4x-5x, or 10x. Game experts estimate that the average jackpot will be over $800 million compared to the current $450 million.
According to the California lottery, this is Mega Millions’ first game configuration since 2017 and the second price adjustment since it first sold over 20 years ago.
The final drawing, including the current structure of Mega Millions, will be on April 4th.
