Investigators on Tuesday tried to track down a man who could have been linked to sexual assault and physical assault on a woman in the University Park area of South Los Angeles in August.
The incident occurred on August 25, 2024 at a Ralph grocery store on Vermont Avenue near USC, the Los Angeles Police Department said.
According to LAPD, the man chased the 32-year-old woman around the store and then walked backwards and appeared to grab her inappropriately from behind.
When the suspect left the store, he punched an elderly woman in his chest before taking off in a car driven by someone else, police added.
The man is said to be a man with dark hair, 5 feet 11 inches, weighing about 230 pounds, about 30 years old. According to LAPD, he was wearing thick glasses with the “Wake and Bake” logo on the back and a Burgundy windproof at the time of the incident.
Investigators believe there may be more women who have been sexually assaulted by men. LAPD
Police believe that the man who escaped in a two-door white sedan with block hoods and spoilers in the trunk may have attacked other women before.
“Our friends and family, Los Angeles residents, should be free from this behavior,” said Detective Robert Smay, a sexual assault investigator for the Southwest department.
Those with information were urged to contact a sexual assault detective, Southwest Division of LAPD at 323-290-2976.
