Officers have discovered and arrested four boys suspected of an attempted armed carjacking on the West Side, police said Monday.
According to the Culver City Police Department, there was a radio call that attempted to carjack in the 6100 block of the Sepulve Double Bird at around 5pm on March 27th.
Officers arrived in the area and received reports that four young suspects approached the man and tried to get into his car.
The report alleges that one of the suspects had removed the firearm from the waistband and requested that the victim be handed the car keys.
The suspect is committing the threat, police said three other boys were surrounding the victim.
Details were limited and police did not immediately provide the victim’s identity.
Additionally, the suspect was publicly identified as only four male juveniles. The initial report did not reveal age, place of residence, or other identification information.
“The victim told the suspect that the vehicle did not belong to him, and all four suspects ran south on Sepulveda Boulevard,” Culver City police said on the X-Post.
After hearing these reports, the corresponding officers confirmed the area.
The department said when one of the suspects found a police vehicle, he began running towards the overpass of the 90 highway in the direction of Hannam Avenue.
“When the suspect ran, he continued to reach for the waistband,” the release said. “The officers caught up quickly and arrested the suspect.”
Police said two additional suspects were taken nearby and were detained without further incident as the armed suspect was arrested.
“Sometimes afterwards, the last outstanding suspect was placed and arrested,” the department explained.
The officers searched and found what they believed. Police noted that the gun was loaded with a chamber circle.
No further information was provided as of Monday night.
