Police have arrested a Ventura man accused of plastering Swastika throughout the city, authorities confirmed.
According to the Ventura Police Department, John Williams, 30, of Ventura, was arrested Sunday after five cases were reported across the region in the form of five vandalism in the form of spray-painted sw.
At about 9am on Sunday, the department received a call from a business in the 1000 block of East Front Street reporting that sw had been spray-painted on the walls on its premises. Authorities identified the suspect as Williams after observing him on surveillance footage.
Four more reports have been produced over the next few hours. Their locations are:
Harbor Boulevard/100 block of Sanjon Road W. 100 block of Main Street W. Garden St. Santa Clara Street/S. Ventura Avenue
At about 11:44am, officers observed Williams riding an electric scooter in the Main Street and Ash Street areas. After stopping him, officers found evidence of vandalism in his possession, authorities said.
He was arrested on suspicion of felony vandalism, misdemeanor vandalism, hate crimes and parole violations.
The officers discovered Williams’ social media accounts during the investigation. On these pages, Williams took a picture of the sw which he drew and made it seem like others were committing a crime to spread the fear, authorities said.
