The candidate for President Donald Trump to become America’s top officer is set to take a hot seat in front of the Senate Armed Services Committee on Tuesday.
General Daniel “Razin” Kane was picked last month by replacing General CQ Brown, whom Trump reassuring, of his role as chairman of the Joint Chief of Staff. That will be Kane’s first highly publicized statement since the shakeup. After testifying before the committee, he must pass the committee vote and then make a full Senate vote.
If confirmed, Kane will serve as a go-to advisor to both Trump and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegses.

Kane first caught the president’s eye several years ago, when he was one of a group of military leaders who met with Trump at Al-Assad Air Base in Iraq in December 2018.
Trump was visiting to deliver a Christmas message and hear from commanders on earth. So Kane told Trump that they could quickly beat ISIS by lifting resource surges and engagement restrictions.
“We’re just going to hit them from a temporary base in Syria,” Trump said Kane told him. “But if you gave us permission, we could hit them from behind, from the side, from everything, from the base you’re in for now.
Trump picked a retired Air Force general from relative obscurity after accusing Brown of pushing the “awakening” agenda with the Pentagon. Brown was behind the 2022 memo laying out Air Force diversity goals.
Caine does not meet the prerequisites of its duties, such as being a combat commander or service chief, and requires exemptions to confirm with the position.

Kane’s reputation as an offensive fighter pilot earned him the nickname “Razin Kane.”
Kane, who flew an F-16, also spent time as a top military liaison with the CIA, a Texas air force security guard and founder of a regional airline. He was a White House Fellow in the Agriculture sector and a counterterrorism specialist on the White House Homeland Security Council.
Since 2018-19, he has been the deputy commander of the inherent resolve of the Special Operations Joint Task Force-Operation, which has been fighting the Islamic State since 2014. Little is known about his role in that operation. However, the role of airstrikes grew during that time, including the secret secret role, with Trump designating airstrike approvals for commanders rather than the White House.
Critics saw Kane as an unconventional pick with no work experience. He had already retired from the army and held the rank of a 3-star general instead of four.

If confirmed, he will be tasked with providing military advice to the president as Trump bombs Iran and strengthens his capabilities so that the Pentagon can win the hypothetical war with China.
The Pentagon is also in the midst of a major modernization push for integrating AI into the entire system, and will soon take up the monumental challenge of placing a “golden dome” in its US homeland. Currently, more than 50,000 people are cutting the private workforce and trying to identify the agency’s waste on the largest budget.
