A federal judge blocked President Donald Trump’s administration in 19 states and in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday.
The order of U.S. District Judge James Bledal, prior to Tuesday, April 8th, directs 18 federal agencies to “undo” the “intended dismissals” of thousands of federal probation workers, but the order only applies to the states where the Attorney General filed the case.
The states affected by Wednesday’s ruling include Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, Wisconsin and Columbia.
Bredal’s order, while not as close to the national injunction used in other instances, is just the latest move by a federal court to block Trump’s agenda.

Since Trump took office, he has faced a nationwide injunction to stop the administration’s actions. So far, in his new term, the court has hit him with about 15 broader orders than former presidents George W. Bush, Barack Obama and Joe Biden received during their tenure.

Some of those who ordered the Trump administration to suspend certain actions include US District Judges James Boasberg, Amir Ali, Lauren Alican, William Alsp, Deborah Boardman, John Corgenor, Paul A. Engelmeyer, Amy Berman Jackson, Angel Kelly, Brendan A. Herson, Royche Lambers, John Laplante, John Laplante, and more.

House Speaker Newt Ginrich denounced the wave of injunctions as a “judicial coup” during his testimony before the House Judiciary Subcommittee Tuesday.
The former lawmaker emphasized that the majority of judges have been appointed by Democrats who have filed injunctions or restraint orders for Trump’s enforcement actions.

“Looking at recent reports from various voting companies, the vast majority of Americans clearly believe that a single district judge cannot issue a national injunction,” Ginrich replied.

“My judgment is as a historian. This is clearly a judicial coup. So many different judges have not issued so many different national injunctions – they all come from the same ideological and political background – and I assume that it is all random efforts of justice,” he continued.

“This is a clear effort to stop the scale of change that President Trump represents,” he added.
