After the human remains were discovered Wednesday, new deaths were confirmed in connection with the devastating Los Angeles wildfires, bringing the death toll to 30.

Crews from the LA County Medical Examination Office’s Special Operations Response Team investigated the bodies found in the 900 block of Boston Street, Altadena on April 2nd.

Following the investigation, the body was decided to be human. The authorities have not provided information regarding possible identities.

A total of 18 people were killed in the Eton fire, while 12 people were killed in the Palisade fire.

The fire that ignited Jan. 7 shortly after 10am in Los Angeles County remains one of the deadliest and destructive wildfires in Southern California history.

The Palisades fire, which was ignited at Pacific Palisades, burned a total of 23,707 acres, destroying 6,833 structures, according to Cal Fire data. The Eton Fire, which erupted in Altadena, burned 14,021 acres and destroyed 9,413 structures.

The fires have encouraged the evacuation of thousands of residents, and forced the closure of most of the Pacific Coast highways with little or no notice for many. In the aftermath of the fire, many communities and businesses are struggling to rebuild and recover.

The causes of both fires are under investigation.

In the case of Eaton Fire, Southern California Edison was scrutinized after photos and videos taken by residents showed fire was burning under the power tower, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The Times has filed more than 40 lawsuits from more than 600 residents accusing SoCal Edison of igniting the flames, the Times reported.

The origins of the Eton Fire are being investigated by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Prevention. The Palisade fires are being investigated by the U.S. Alcohol Service, cigarettes, firearms and explosives.
