Expect nightly sessions in the Senate tonight as Republicans take the next step and pass President Donald Trump’s “big and beautiful bill.”
The Senate expects a round of up to 15 hours starting tonight, and expects to approve an improved budget framework to cut taxes, cut spending and raise debt caps.
The voting marathon will likely start tonight and run all day on Saturday. The record is 44 consecutive role call votes set in 2008.

Democrats try to force Republicans to vote for amendments to cut Medicare and tariffs. By involving Republicans in the record, Democrats will try to weaponize those votes against vulnerable Gopers in the middle of 2026.
If the Senate approves the plan, the package will return to the House of Representatives where it will have to sync up the Senate version.

But it could be a rocky road.
House Republicans received reinforcements this week and won both special elections in Florida. However, knowledgeable sources have expressed skepticism about Fox News that the House has the vote to pass the Senate version. The reason is that some conservatives don’t think the cuts in spending are deep enough.

If the House lacks a vote that matches the Senate, Fox is said to be one option for the House of Representatives to vote to go to the Congress Committee. So, the House and Senate must haveh out the differences before creating yet another framework, but they can move both the House and Senate. Only after its approval can the House and Senate begin their actual work on the President’s “big, beautiful bill.”
