A scratch ticket for the California lottery, given to a man as a gift from his father, turned out to be a multi-million dollar winner.
Jerry Herejone won a $7 million jackpot playing the crossword Xtreme Scratcher, which was given to him by his father the day after Christmas.
The ticket was purchased at Loiy’s liquor market on the corner of Sherman Way and Varna Avenue in North Hollywood, according to California lottery officials.
Helejon said to the lottery that his father gave him a game of scrackers to make up for the lack of Christmas gifts that year, “Here is a gift for Christmas.”
Herrejon took the ticket home to play and discovered that his last minute Christmas present was the winner of the $7 million jackpot.

He told the California lottery that his immediate response was excitement, followed by a moment of gathering his thoughts and deciding “what should I do with it before I cash it out.”
His plan is to tell the lottery, and although it is a rather safety net, to continue working as if nothing had happened, and to continue living in the same means as before.
“That’s better,” Hellejon said. “If you start using it, it will disappear as quickly as you got it.”
Jerry is not the only big winner in the recent California lottery game.
Gary Barsegyan won $5 million for playing the 100x Scralder game he purchased at Stop Food Mart, Palmdale. He joined Jose Morales in the same jackpot on a ticket he bought in Alameda County.
In San Diego County, O’Honies Candelian blew $10 million with scars purchased at El Cajon’s liquor store.
But don’t be surprised if he sees his name again, as for Herejo, who says he plays the lottery when a certain jackpot is swollen.
“In a strange way, it feels like a history of fortunateness is happening,” he joked with lottery officials.
The California lottery must disclose the winner’s name and where you purchased the victory ticket. Contrary to popular belief, lottery tickets cannot be argued that they win anonymously – at least not in California.
Anyway, players who play the game can wear hats to support their community, as the funds purchased by players provide supplemental funds to public education efforts throughout the state.
