The road to “liberation day”
For decades, President Donald Trump has been a solid defender of tariffs – regularly declares one of the most beautiful things in the dictionary, regularly accusing foreign countries of taking the US
Following the promise of a 2024 campaign and policies introduced by his first administration, Trump announced a series of historic tariffs at the Rose Garden in the White House on Wednesday, and his administration announced a “American Wealthy” event as part of a day called the US “Freedom Day.”
While some lawmakers on either side of the aisle have expressed concern over the policy, tariffs are an area where Trump’s views have been incredibly consistent for years as other countries have routinely denounced the United States of America for unfairly treating it in trade transactions.
