Multinational automaker Stellantis said Friday it will begin offering employee discounts to the public to ease the blow from President Donald Trump’s new tariffs.
The move continues with the Ford Motor Company stepping stone earlier this month, which unveiled a similar bargain. Auto tolls came into effect on April 3 the day after Trump announced vast taxes to almost every trading partner in the US.
A Stellantis spokesman told Nexstar’s The Hill that a new program called “America’s Freedom of Choice” will provide customers with the opportunity to purchase vehicles at “employee prices or current cash incentives.”
“We instruct our customers to meet local dealers and decide on the best offers to work for them,” the person added.

Stellantis’ new measures come after last month that it chose to suspend production on Canadian and Mexican plants following Trump’s new taxation on foreign vehicles and auto parts imports.
Antonio Firosa, America’s chief operating officer, said the suspension “will affect some employees” at some of the US powertrains and stamping facilities. The company has already begun the year in a loss as U.S. sales reported in the first quarter fell 12% year-on-year.
The parent companies of Dodge, Jeep, Ram and Chrysler brands said they will continue to adjust as needed amidst low sales and tense trade relations.
“We continue to have these tariffs in the medium and long-term impacts on our business,” Filosa wrote in an email obtained by The Hill.
