Three pets were killed in a destructive home fire in San Bernardino County, leaving at least eight residents without their homes on Sunday evening.
County firefighters said crews arrived just after 6pm and found an active fire that quickly spread behind a single-storey home in the 14,000 block of Pine Avenue in Fontana.
The residents of the house were able to safely evacuate, but unfortunately, two dogs and one cat were unable to escape. Authorities confirmed that three pets had died in the fire.
“With the flames already involved in units living in the garage and now threatening the neighboring home, crews will carry the hose line both to the house and side to prevent them from sprinting through adjacent structures,” he explained in detail on the X-Post to the San Bernardino County Fire Station.
Meanwhile, the report says trucking companies have deployed it on the roof to ventilate the home.
The department said at least 23 staff members answered the initial alarm call and crews were able to contain the flames before they burned the neighboring house.

This response included four engine companies, two paramedics, one ladder truck company, battalion chief, investigator and information manager, according to SBCFD.
“A total of eight people were chased by the fire, including two adult men, five adult women and one male child,” the release continued. “The Red Cross was called to help.”
The cause of the fire remains unknown, and the department said the investigation will be led by the former fire department office.
