A once-extended, miserable wolf has come to life – NBC Los Angeles

Winter is here…and so are the miserable wolves.

The big dog is best known for being featured in the HBO series Game of Thrones, but it disappeared almost 13,000 years ago. But they’re making a comeback now.

Dallas-based biotechnology company Colossal Biosciences announced Monday that it had revived the species by breeding three wolf puppies carrying long-lost ancestor genes.

As part of the gene editing repair process, the company invokes detension. These edited cells were used to create embryos that were moved to the agent, leading to the regeneration of extinct species.

The three puppies born six months ago are named Romulus, Remus and Khaleesi. They are characterized by miserable wolves’ properties, including a larger, stronger body and a longer, more fulfilling coat with light pigmentation.

“This massive milestone is the first of many upcoming examples showing that our end-to-end detensive technology stack is working,” said Ben Lamm, CEO of Colossal. “Our team collected DNA from 13,000-year-old teeth and 72,000-year-old skulls to create healthy, miserable wolf puppies.”

The puppy lives in more than 2,000 acres of private reserves in the Northern United States, and says Colossal is surrounded by “redundant perimeter security with 10 feet tall zoo-grade fencing.” Ten full-time animal care staff tend to be wolves happy.

Colossal also announced that it has used a new approach to non-invasive blood cloning to produce two liters of cloned red wolves, an endangered species. In March, the company revealed the birth of a wool mouse. This is a mouse that features mammoth-like properties designed by genetic modification.

“It was once said that ‘all advanced technology cannot be distinguished from magic’,” Lamb said. “Today, our team will be unveiling some of the magic they are working on, revealing the broader impact on conservation.”

Colossal calls Dire Wolf the world’s first successful animal.

Wolves first came to life in 2011 when “Game of Thrones” was adopted from George R.R. Martin’s fantasy novel series “A Song of Ice and Fire.”

“Many people see Dire Wolves as a mythical creature that only exists in the fantasy world, but in reality they have a rich history that contributes to the American ecosystem,” Martin said in a statement. “I have the luxury of writing about magic, but Ben and Korosal created magic by bringing these majestic beasts back into our world.”
