House Republicans should try to pass two major bills over again

Two important bills backed by President Donald Trump are expected to be voted this week after moving forward with the House Rules Committee on Monday evening.
The Fraudulent Arbitration Act by R-Calif, Rep. Darrell Issa (Nora Act) limits the ability of district court judges to issue orders that obstruct Trump policies across the country. Protection of the American Voters Qualifications (SAVE) Act by Rep. Chip Roy of R-Texas is intended to require proof of citizenship in the voting registration process.
The previous law was Trump’s response to ongoing conflict, with judges paralyzing his agenda, the latter of which is a bill that the president and his allies have long pushed.
Issa’s bill is expected to be voted Tuesday afternoon, but Roy is expected on the floor of his house on Thursday morning.

It is conditional on them passing procedural hurdles known as “rules votes.” The simple majority of Congressional members are necessary to pass the “rules” to secure discussion and votes on the final House-wide law.
The House Rules Committee was the ultimate gatekeeper before most of the law reached the entire room, and advanced the “rules” that combined the Issa and Roy bills with two financial regulatory measures.
Both laws were scheduled to win House votes last week, but the showdown over unrelated measures regarding the proxy vote for new parents in Congress paralyzed the chamber’s floors Tuesday afternoon within 24 hours of the home’s first vote.

“The Rules Committee has made efforts to protect this body from the Take It or Leave All Northing proposal to impose a proxy vote,” RN.C.’s FOXX said at the beginning of the meeting on Monday.
“It appears they worked to block simple common sense policies that support working mothers in Congress,” Sen. Jim McGovern, a top Democrat on the committee, said in his opening statement.

“When he lost his vote, Johnson sent everyone home and denounced the few Republicans who had the courage to protect the values of their families,” McGovern said.

Once the problem is resolved, both the rules vote and both the measures themselves are expected to pass for most of the drama.
But while that could be another issue in the Senate, both bills would need the help of at least some Democrats from at least some Democrats to meet the 60 vote threshold for property.
