The IRS, DHS will come to cooperate in deporting illegal immigrants of criminals

Exclusive: The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) have reached an agreement that allows ICE to access taxpayer information to find illegal immigrants eligible for deportation.

The Trump administration filed a memorandum of understanding later Monday with the court to create a guardrail in court, and the process of the IRS’ request to further investigate further investigations of criminal illegal immigrants who failed or refused 90 days after the judge issued a final removal order.

“The Internal Revenue Service and immigration and customs enforcement agencies have been caught up in the memorandum of understanding to establish a clear and safe process to support law enforcement efforts to combat illegal immigration,” a Treasury spokesman told FOX News Digital in a statement.

“The foundation of this MOU is based on long-standing authorities granted by Congress, which helps protect the privacy of law-abiding Americans while streamlining their ability to pursue criminals,” the statement said. “After Joe Biden floods the country for four years of illegal aliens, President Trump’s number one priority is to ensure the safety of the American people.”

A senior Treasury official said illegal immigrants are given legitimate procedures but have been staying for 90 days since they had spent their judge’s removal order.

The MOU outlines the process of ensuring confidential taxpayer data information is protected while enabling law enforcement to pursue criminal violations, officials said.

The Treasury is committed to protecting the privacy of law-abiding taxpayers, but criminal exceptions require law enforcement to assist, senior officials said.

The draft agreement reported last month by the Washington Post said it would restrict ICE to verify addresses of illegal immigrants who received a final removal order.

The agreement allows ICE to submit the name and address of an illegal immigrant to the IRS. The IRS can cross-check the tax records of those immigrants and provide current address information to the Immigration Bureau.

Some Veteran IRS officials have expressed concern, arguing that the narrow exception is intended solely for criminal investigations and not immigration enforcement. They are also concerned that the policy will prevent tax collection from illegal immigrants who are subject to federal taxes despite being illegally present in the country.

The agreement comes as President Donald Trump continues to intensify the deportation efforts he has committed in his campaign trajectory, trying to use all the resources available to support immigration authorities.
