Construction equipment and wood are coming in as the reconstruction process begins in some homes affected by the Pacific Palisades fire.
Many of the homes in the neighborhood near De Poe Street have not been cleaned up.
The couple who owns property in the area had just finished construction before it was destroyed in the Pallisard fire in July 2022.
The blueprint of their new homes they are currently building resembles their old homes.
The design and build of Dolan, a company that works with the family, said that one of the reasons they were able to break the ground so quickly was because the design of the house resembles the old ones.
The owner chose to rebuild the same home with minor changes, making the approval process more efficient.
They also do not have exposed rafter tails under the roof, where their new homes look like old homes, and instead are surrounded by fire-resistant material.
Special roof vents for the fire belt have been added, and when it comes time to landscaping the road, things close to plants and homes are done.
According to the builders, they tested asbestos in February and then submitted plans to the city.
In March, the family opted out of the Army’s debris removal program, and Dolan cleared the lot.
Three days later, a building permit was issued, and about a month later the city gave it a green light to move forward.
Construction began this past Saturday. The construction group said it is expected to close in 10 months.
