A Ventura County man was sentenced to 480 years in prison for abuse of two young children for nearly a decade.

The ju judge was Marcelino Arias Alca, 68, of Oxnard, who was charged with six felony felonies on March 5th. On April 8th, he was sentenced for the crime, the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office announced.

From 2005 to 2014, Arca abused two children under the age of 14 at the time. The abuse has occurred in several locations over the years, prosecutors said. He had access to children through family relationships.

Marcelino Arias Alca, 68, of Oxnard, was found guilty of abusing two young children over nearly a decade, according to the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office.

A few years later, both victims reported the abuse to trustworthy families. Arca was arrested for the crime and was later convicted.

Arca was also convicted of previous child abuse since 1988, authorities said.

“Descends ago, the defendant went to jail to sexually abuse a child,” said Ben Moreno, the Ventura County District Attorney, who charged the case. “When given a second chance, he chose not to change. Instead, he sexually abused two more children this time in his own family. This sentence reflects the serious and lasting harm he caused, sending a clear message that sexual abuse of children is not tolerated, especially by repeated offenders.”

In addition to the indecent felony conduct against the child, the special claims that have been true and recognized are:

Aggravated circumstances/previous conviction Multiple victims prior felony or violent felony, prison eligibility felony pre-strike 3

“I commend the two victims for the incredible courage to move forward and face abusers,” Moreno said following his March 5 conviction. “For their courage, [Arca] I will never have the opportunity to hurt my child again. We also thank them for their careful attention to the evidence and their commitment to justice. Today’s verdict cannot revoke the harm caused by the defendants, but hopes that it will give the victims a closure they deserve desperately. ”
