Entrepreneur and YouTube star Mrbeast denounced President Trump’s “brutal” tariffs in the post on social platform X on Tuesday.
“Ironically, it’s much cheaper to make chocolate bars that sell globally rather than America because of all the new tariffs,” he said in X’s thread in connection with the “Feast” line of chocolate bars, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson.
Donaldson later added that his brand “is providing livelihood income for our farmers” and “working with Fair Trade Certified Beans and others. So I was already spending a lot on cocoa.”
“The random price hike was pretty cruel [not going to lie,]” Donaldson continued. “We get that. But I feel like a small business. It can really be a nail in the co-op for them.”
Last week’s Trump’s tariff announcement has led to economic unrest and markets around the world are fighting. The president’s tariff policy has also strained Congressional relations with Republicans, with seven GOP senators recently signing a bill that will ensure that Congress notify 48 hours before fresh tariffs.
US YouTube personality Jimmy Donaldson, known as Mrbeast, will arrive at the 36th Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California on March 4, 2023.
Dave Portnoy, founder of Barstool Sports and founder of popular internet personality, ranted Trump in a live stream Monday morning over the losses the stock market faced due to tariffs. (Portnoy has previously expressed his support for the President.)
After saying “there is no political agenda” to his livestream, Portnoy told his viewers to write “Orange Monday” braces, a reference to both the 1987 Trump and Black Monday stock market conflicts.
“Trump tariffs absolutely destroyed the market,” he said shortly after Opening Bell Lang. “And that’s ugly.”
