The number of deaths from the crash fall of Highway Santa Ana over the weekend rose to five, authorities confirmed Wednesday.
The 13-year-old was identified as the fifth person to die as a result of a violent clash that killed three other teenagers.
The sixth passenger, identified as a 15-year-old girl, has been hospitalized and remains stable.
The crash was reported on Segerstrom Avenue near Townsend Street, 11:30pm on Saturday. According to the Santa Ana Police Department, the driver loses control while moving at high speed and after hitting wood with the central divider, the vehicle is split into halves.

Ignacio Robles said he and his loved ones can’t explain the immeasurable pain he and his loved ones are feeling after learning that their two daughters are among the six passengers in the vehicle. He said that one of his daughters was not surviving.
“She was a good kid,” he said. “She didn’t talk much, she didn’t take drugs, she didn’t take it.”
Investigators said the vehicle was being driven by 18-year-old children who were traveling west on Seagerstrom Avenue. He, a 20-year-old passenger and two teenage girls were killed at the scene.
“It’s highly likely that alcohol and drugs played a role in the incident,” said Santa Ana Police Officer Natalie Garcia. “But I do know for sure that the vehicle appears to be driving or that it was driving at speed.”
Police said there is suspicion that the drug may have played a factor in the crash after finding evidence at the scene.
The Santa Ana Unified School District has sent a statement that Valley High School and Kerr Middle School students are involved in the crash. He also said counselors will be available this week to help students handle the tragedy.
Law enforcement officers have not identified the deceased.
