President Donald Trump added to reporters that if Iran does not abandon its nuclear weapons program, Israeli-led military action is a real possibility and he has in mind a time when the two countries must reach an agreement.
The US and Iran are expected to negotiate in Oman on Saturday as the Trump administration continues to try to curb the country’s nuclear program and threaten a “big risk” if both parties fail to reach an agreement.
Trump told reporters in the Oval Office on Wednesday that he had kept deadlines in mind when the speech had to peak with an agreed solution, but the president refused to elaborate on the nature of the timeline.

“There’s a bit of time, but there’s not much time, because we don’t have nuclear weapons. We can’t have nuclear weapons,” Trump said as he pushed details on his potential timeline. “I don’t want a lot. I just – I don’t – they can’t have nuclear weapons.”
When asked about the possibility of military action if Iran does not make a deal on their nuclear weapons, Trump said “absolutely.”
“If that requires the army, we’re going to have the army,” the president told reporters. “Israel will obviously be very involved in that. They will become its leaders. But no one will guide us. We will do what we want to do.”

Trump says he will deal with Iran “directly” at a high-level meeting on Saturday
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has expressed his support for the complete denuclearization of Iran. During his visit to the White House, he expressed support for a similar transaction to the international community and the sealed Libya in 2003. The state has abandoned all its nuclear weapons.

“No matter what happens, we need to make sure Iran has no nuclear weapons,” Netanyahu said during the meeting.
The talks with Iran scheduled for Saturday in Oman are characterized as “direct” talks by Trump, but Iranian foreign leaders have challenged the claims and explained the talks “indirectly.” Iranian leaders said if talks work on Saturday, they would accept further direct negotiations with the US.
