The men and women towing by young girls are being sought in connection with the theft of a $20,000 ring from a jewellery store in Los Angeles.
The distraction-style theft caught in a store’s surveillance camera unfolded at U Los Angeles Jewelry at Westfield Shopping Mall in Century City on the evening of April 9th.
The jewelry store owner told KTLA that the couple entered the store around 7pm, viewed the display cases and asked them to see the items.
In footage of the incident, the female suspect is seen standing in front of a display case that looks like a velvet board carrying several necklaces next to a store employee. It appears that a male suspect somewhere behind the woman asks the salesperson’s question.
When shop employees temporarily turn their attention to the man, the female suspect is seen skillfully picking an item of the display case, a ring worth $20,000. She then hides the jewel piece by pretending to put her hands on her hair.

The video later shows a woman putting something in her wallet.
In another example, the video said his employee saw her as the female suspect put his hands in another display case while standing behind the man and said there was no time.

It is unclear whether the attempt was prior to or successful distraction theft.
A sales representative who didn’t want to name them said the couple was using young girls as a decoy of sorts, according to KTLA’s Rachel Menitoff.
“The kids were definitely running around to where moms were saying, ‘Stop, stop, stop, stop,’ so it’s abandoning me,” she explained. “You don’t want things of that nature when kids run around, get hurt.”
Detectives at the Los Angeles Police Department are reviewing and investigating the video footage. The couple was seen walking out of the mall and leaving the area.
