A Walmart employee shot and killed a colleague inside a Georgia store, seriously injured another worker early Friday, authorities said.
Newton County Councilman responded to a shooting at Walmart in Covington, Georgia around 1:30am. The sheriff’s office later determined that after the employee left the building to get a gun, he returned inside and fatally shot a colleague.
The gunman then left the store and “confronted a second acquaintance” outside. The victim was taken to hospital and was said to be in danger as of Friday morning.
The Newton County Sheriff’s Office said after leaving the store’s property, the gunman drove into a nearby home where he fatally shot a woman’s acquaintance.

Deputies for the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office in South Carolina were later contacted by a Georgia patrol to help locate the gunman. The suspect was arrested after a short standoff hours after the first shooting.
The suspect was also injured by a self-harm bullet, officials said. He was treated on site and transferred to the hospital.
The incident is currently under investigation by both Georgia and South Carolina officials.
