The lawyer for the man accused of murdering a health insurance CEO is trying to remove the death penalty from the table and calling the order to seek the death penalty a “political stunt,” NBC News reported.

Lawyers for Luigi Mangion, who was charged with murder in the December assassination of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson, filed a motion Friday to block the death penalty.

“The interests cannot be high. The US government intends to kill Mangion as a political stunt,” Mangion’s lawyer wrote in a complaint filed in Manhattan.

They cited Attorney General Pamela Bondy’s comments when they instructed prosecutors to seek the death penalty. When she announced her instructions, she said prosecutors would work to “run President Trump’s agenda to stop violent crimes and make America safe again.”

Mangion is accused of killing Thompson, the CEO of the country’s largest civil health insurance company, in an ambush shooting in midtown Manhattan Street on early December 4th.

The terms “denial,” “degenerate,” and “delay” are written on two used shell cases and one bullet found at the scene, claiming that prosecutors targeted Thompson and planned an attack.

Mangion has been charged with four federal numbers, and he is also charged with a New York state count that includes first-degree murder to promote terrorism.

Mangion’s lawyers alleges they are claiming they have not followed the procedures.

According to the allegations, Mangion’s lawyers have said they have “sought three months to prepare for the submission of a full mitigation measure to the Department of Justice’s Capital Committee and were ignored.”

He also cited an Instagram post by Bondi, claiming that Mangione was guilty and she said she was biased in the process of the big ju judge.

The accused UnitedHealthcare CEO Killer Luigi Mangione faces the possibility of death penalty for murder against him. Federal prosecutors have been instructed to seek the death penalty of Mangion by the Trump administration, making it the first death penalty case of Trump’s second administration. Reported by Chris Glorioso of NBC New York.

The allegations are attempting to require the ju apprentice to be screened from what is called the official statement of Bondy’s bias.

The US Lawyer’s office in the Southern District of Manhattan’s New York did not immediately respond to a voicemail seeking comment Friday night. The Department of Justice did not respond to emails seeking comment submitted after business hours.

Mangion is each charged with the federal government at one count, using a firearm to commit murder. Interstate stalking leads to death. Stalking and death through interstate facility use. Eject firearms equipped with silencers to promote violent crime.

A count of committing murder with a firearm results in the greatest penalty of life sentences in prison or death. The other three counts come to life in prison.

Mangion is being charged in New York with state numbers of first-degree murders to promote terrorism, but he is also charged with two counts of two-degree murders. Mangion is also charged with counting the number of weapons and counterfeit equipment.

Mangion pleaded not guilty to a state case. The state case is set to go first.

He has not yet been in the petition in a federal case. He was charged with federal charges on criminal charges, but has not been charged.
