PETA, animal rights group praises Trump administrators for conducting animal testing

The Trump administration has received support from animal advocacy groups, lawmakers and others for a recent announcement to end animal testing within the FDA and EPA programs.

“PETA praises the FDA’s decision to adopt human-related testing strategies to stop harmful animals and evaluate antibody therapy,” PETA Senior Vice President Kathy Guillermo said in a statement.

“This is an important step in meeting the agency’s commitment to replacing the use of hard-working animals to promote. All animal use, including failed vaccines and other tests in monkeys at federally funded primate centers, calls on the FDA to embrace more of 21st century science.”

The PETA statement, first reported by Fox Digital, came on Thursday, following the Food and Drug Administration announcement on Thursday, followed by the announcement that it was phased out animal testing requirements for antibody therapy and other drugs.

“For too long, drug manufacturers have been conducting additional animal trials of drugs that have a wide range of human use internationally. This initiative marks a paradigm shift in drug evaluation, committing to accelerating treatments and meaningful treatments for Americans while reducing animal use.”

“By leveraging AI-based computational modeling, human organ model-based lab testing, and real human data, we can get faster and more reliable patient safer treatments while reducing R&D costs and drug prices. It’s an advantage for both public health and ethics.”

Fox Digital was the leading animal that dogs, mice and fish faced testing ahead of Thursday’s announcement.

The press release focuses on the conclusion of animal trials on research into monoclonal antibody therapy, a laboratory-made protein intended to stimulate the immune system to combat diseases such as cancer and other drugs.

Instead, according to an FDA press release, the FDA encourages testing of “organoids.”

Environmental Protection Agency chief Lee Zeldin announced on the same day that he would revive 2019 policies from the first Trump administration to phase out animal testing at government agencies. In a comment, the EPA said that while the Biden administration has stepped away from phasing out animal testing, Zeldin is “dedicated to its fullest to get agents on track to eliminate animal testing.”

“Under President Trump’s first term, the EPA signed an order that prioritizes efforts to reduce animal testing, reduce mammal testing by 30% by 2025, and eliminate it entirely by 2035. By delaying compliance deadlines, the Biden administration has halted progress in these efforts, Vaseliou told the Washington Times.

The recent announcements from the EPA and FDA received praise in 2021 by animal rights groups, including the White Coat Waste Project. This reported in 2021 that the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases spent hundreds of thousands of dollars under the leadership of Dr. Anthony Fauci, testing it through the fly and through the parasit.

The People’s Logo for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) will be handed down during a protest at the G-7 Agriculture Ministers’ Conference held in Stuttgart, Germany on May 13, 2022.

“Thank you to @drmakaryfda for years of advocacy and outstanding leadership, and eliminate FDA red tapes that will allow businesses and tax-funded federal agencies to perform wasteful and cruel tests on dogs and other animals!” group posted last week on X.

Trump administrator cuts an additional $1 million with federal funds for experimenting with “transgender animals”

“Whitecoin waste has made historic progress under Trump 45, cutting down wasteful and cruel animal testing at the EPA and FDA, some of which have been revoked by the Biden administration,” Justin Goodman, senior vice president of Whitecoin, told Fox News Digital on Sunday.

“We commend Administrator Zeldin and Commissioner McCulley for taking Trump to leave the line, prioritizing efforts to reduce broad, in-person, wasted animal testing, which is great news for taxpayers and pet owners who send messages to large-scale federal spending animal abusers.

Other animal rights groups and lawmakers praised the Trump administration for their recent animal testing moves.

“We recommend that the EPA recommends step-by-step animal experiments, a goal that has long been defending on behalf of animals trapped in these outdated, painful experiments,” said Kitty Block, president and CEO of Hunele World for Animals World. “But don’t save lives with promises alone. Animals like dogs, rabbits and mice have endured the tests that cause suffering without providing better science. It’s time to replace these cruel methods with modern humanitarian alternatives that are overwhelmingly popular.”

Other groups came out and warned that there are still no high-tech alternatives for animals within the realm of biomedical research and drug testing, and that humane animal testing is still important for testing future drugs in humans.

“We all want better and faster ways to bring life-saving treatment to our patients,” the Matthew R. Bailey Association of Biomedical Research Association said in a press release provided to Fox Digital. “However, AI models and simulations have yet to demonstrate the ability to fully replicate all the unknowns of many complete biological systems, and therefore humane animal research remains essential.”

Under his first administration, Trump took other steps to protect animals. It made intentional atrocities into a federal crime in 2019, including signing the Act on the Prevention of Animal Cruelty and Torture Act.
