Three people were shot dead near a bus stop at the Expo Park on Monday afternoon and shot in the heels of three separate shootings that occurred in Southern L.A. over the weekend.
According to Officer Tony Im, at 4:08pm on Monday, Los Angeles police responded to a shooting at the corner of Vermont Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
Authorities are looking for two teenage boys who approached the area on foot, shot three people and fled.
Two 16-year-old boys have been taken to the hospital and are stable. The third victim, a woman in her 50s, was taken to hospital in a critical condition.
Investigators suspected the shooting was gang-related, I said.
The triple shooting follows the smarts of violence that South Lala rattles over the weekend. Police say two people were killed and the third was taken to hospital in three separate shootings that took place within a mile in the Green Meadows neighborhood.
He said there was no information to indicate whether any of the recent shootings were related.
The 13-year-old girl died in hospital on Sunday after being shot in the head inside her home in the 700 block of East 108th Street on Friday night, Im said. A woman in her 30s died in a hospital Saturday afternoon after being found with multiple gunshot wounds in the 10,200 block of South San Pedro Street.
Another person was taken to hospital in dangerous conditions after being injured in a shooting on East 103rd Street and Avalon Boulevard at 4:15am Sunday, according to LAPD officer Norma Eisenman.
