With Dodger Stadium and Aramitos Beach on the list on Tuesday, LA28 has almost completed full venue planning for the 2028 Olympics.
The organising committee announced the updated venue plan on Tuesday. There, all but two events were revealed as an approach within three and a half years. The International Olympic Committee approved the master plan last week, with about half of the event staying in Los Angeles, focusing on three major hubs.
“The plan brings the game to every corner of our city more than ever, from the Sepulveda Basin to the iconic coast of Venice Beach. The world-renowned areas and hidden gems will be fully displayed for all experience and enjoyment,” Mayor Karen Bass said in a statement. “And as we work together and prepare, we will support small businesses, create local jobs, implement environmental and transport improvements, and leave a legacy in our cities for the generations that are coming.”
At the Downtown core, baseball will join boxing. Boxing will hold a spare round at the eacepock theatre and finals at crypto.com arena. Artistic gymnastics will also be held at the downtown Lakers and Kings home. This is a previously announced move that brought Summer Games’ premier sports to Host City after the early plans became slots for the Forum in Inglewood.
The rhythmic gymnastics will be added to the USC Gallen Center Expo Park Cluster on Tuesday, and will also host badminton. The third major Rampic hub in the Sepulveda Basin officially added 3×3 basketball and modern pentathlon on Tuesday, adding it to the recreation center, hosting BMX and skateboarding.
“We have committed to the world an incredible Olympics, and we are proud to share our plans to make it happen today,” LA28 CEO Reynold Hoover said in a statement. “Los Angeles is the epicenter of sports, culture and entertainment, and all venues selected for the Game of 2028 will provide athletes and fans with the best possible experience.”
All five new sports proposed for the LA Games will have venues as Squash makes its Olympic debut at the Universal Studios lot. It is the first Olympic Games since 1900, and cricket will be held at the Pomona fairgrounds. Softball, the first time in the game since 2008, will be held at Devon Park in Oklahoma City. This is a 13,000-seat stadium that hosts the Women’s College World Series every year.
After Los Angeles, Long Beach will become the second busiest venue city with 11 areas highlighted by adding beach volleyball at Aramitos Beach on Tuesday. The popular sport was originally assigned to be held near Santa Monica’s iconic pier, but the longstanding talk between LA28 and Santa Monica fell apart as the IOC deadline approached last week at an executive committee meeting.
Other last minute changes allowed the equestrian to return to Santa Anita, where the Olympics were held in 1984. After initial plans for a temporary facility in the Sepulveda Basin are void, horseback riding is to head to Galway Down in Temecula. The 242-acre facility was approved by a vote from the Los Angeles City Council in March, but is no longer considered the day after LA28 approved the master plan approved by the IOC in the closed session on April 9th.
Long Beach will be used for marathon swimming and sailing events during the 2028 Summer Olympics.

The plan had a major goal of not creating a new permanent structure, but to try to gather events into sports parks to maximize the host city of Los Angeles and alleviate physical concerns.
Huntington Beach was a beach volleyball destination, but the sporting arrangement at Long Beach is adjacent to 10 other events, including coastal rowing on the waterfront, target shooting at the convention centre, and sport climbing in the convention centre parking lot. The city hosted several events during the 1984 match, including a sailing back to the Belmont Shore in 2028.
Venice Beach takes over hosting triathlons from Long Beach, and is also the starting point for marathons and road cycling events.
The latest plan is to place archery at Dignity Health Sports Park, which already hosts rugby tournaments. The area also offers tennis, track cycling and field hockey.
Orange County has two sports as the Honda Center in Anaheim houses indoor volleyball and surfing takes place at Torrestolls Beach in San Clemente.
The only venues not publicly confirmed are for spare rounds of soccer and mountain biking. Similar to the recent Olympic format, the soccer group’s stage game is scheduled to take place at stadiums nationwide before returning to the Rose Bowl for the medal round.
