Solbang, California, was named by USA Today as the best small town in the West, so praise continues to pile up in the American capital of America.
Last week, the Danish-style tourist hub in Wine Country in Santa Barbara County was named the top spot for the publication’s annual 10 Best Leaders Choi Travel Awards.
Solvan took out Astoria, Oregon and Healdsburg, California, to top the category.

“Dog-friendly and perfect for children, Solvan is known for its Danish-American atmosphere, architecture and design details, an array of pastries and bakeries and wine tasting options. “A careful Curielle Indie Booksler and high-end household goods suppliers to interact with fairy tale-like children’s shops and museum gift shops.”
The walkable town in the heart of Santay Nez Valley features courtyards, communal spaces, outdoor venues and a new permanent home for large mythology residents.
The town also came in fifth in a different category, with the Best Small Town Food Scene. Readers highlight “elevated street dishes” like European pretzels and sausages, as well as fine Michelin Honors restaurants.

Solvang was the only California town represented in the top 10 in its category.
Solvang has won many travel-related awards over the past few years, including several awards from USA Today. In 2024, Solvan ranked second in the magazine rankings for Best Small Towns in the West. In recent years, the town has been one of the best Christmas towns to visit on both Newsweek and Holidays.com.
