Sen. Chris Van Hollen of D-Maryland has accused MS-13 members who were denied visits with immigrants in Salvadoran after flying to the country Wednesday morning and were deported to El Salvador.
Van Hollen was planning to visit 29-year-old Kilmer Abrego Garcia. He was deported to the mega prison in El Salvador.
Van Hollen spoke with a reporter in El Salvador on Wednesday afternoon.
He met with Vice President Felix Augusto Antonio Ulloa Galley because President Naibe Armando Buquer Ortez was abroad, and Van Hollen said he was grateful to speak about the case of Abrego Garcia.

“I asked the vice president if I could meet Abrego Garcia and he said, ‘Well, you need to make the previous clause to visit Secott,” Van Hollen said.
He told Uroa that he was not interested in the CECOT tour and that he just wanted to meet Abrego Garcia.
“He said he couldn’t make it happen,” Van Hollen said of Ullore.
When Van Hollen asked if he would come back to see Abrego Garcia next week, Uroar said he couldn’t promise it either. Ulloa also told the US Senator that he could not even arrange him, or Abrego Garcia’s family tells him over the phone to talk to inmates.

The senator said the situation in El Salvador was “unjust” and he accused the Trump administration of lying about Abrego Garcia.
“I’m going to keep pushing,” Van Hollen said. “I’ll keep pushing the rest of my time here and then pushing past it if necessary.”
Last week, the Supreme Court upheld a lower court’s decision to promote Abrego Garcia’s return from CECOT, which federal officials sent hundreds of criminals and gang members.
The Trump administration agreed to clear the administrative obstacles that would prevent Abrego Garcia from returning to the United States, but Attorney General Pam Bondy said that returning him “will lead to El Salvador, if they want to return him.”

This has not sparked a small outrage from the Democrats. Van Hollen was the first to announce plans to travel to El Salvador to secure the release of Abrego Garcia.
“Abrego Garcia was illegally accused by Trump administrators and accidentally deported to El Salvador on their own entry,” Van Hollen said on Tuesday.
“He shouldn’t have to spend a little more time away from his family,” he continued. “I will fly to El Salvador tomorrow morning to check his condition and discuss his return.”

Van Hollen is not the only Democrat to discuss visiting Abrego Garcia and other imprisoned immigrants. Maxwell Frost of D-Florida and Robert Garcia of D-California issued a joint letter Tuesday, saying they are “ready to travel as quickly as possible.”

In their letter sent to the House Committee on R-Kentucky’s oversight and accountability on Tuesday, Frost and Garcia sought permission to send Congressional delegations to visit CECOT, and “welfare checks” on Garcia and other deported prison migrants.
