Anaheim will be home to volleyball during the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
The Honda Center, located just off the 5 Freeway and 57 highway, will host the event. The Arena has played the duck house in Anaheim since October 1993.
The Honda Center was one of the sites included in the Los Angeles Olympic Organising Committee’s venue update on Tuesday.
At the Olympics, 12 qualifying men and women’s teams, including US volleyball, are expected to face off in the reserve, quarterfinals, finals and medal rounds.
“Olympic volleyball is in the right place,” Mayor Ashley Aitken said. “Anaheim has a long and renowned history in volleyball and is the perfect place for indoor sports for summer games in 2028. We are confident in Anaheim’s proven ability to support Honda Center bids and hold great competitions for athletes and fans. It happens often.”
Indoor volleyball is the only sport Anaheim hosts at LA28.
Since 2006, Anaheim has been the training ground for the US men’s national volleyball team. These teams won medals in 2008 (Gold), 2016 (Bronze), and 2024 Games (Bronze).
During the 1984 Los Angeles game, the city held wrestling at the Anaheim Convention Center.
