The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday that two sheriff deputies took administrative leave at a Camarillo restaurant last month on suspicion of a domestic incident.
Dylan Davis, 33, and Anthony Maragon, 27, were involved in the March 30 domestic incident at Elle Ray Cantina, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Security guards are treated at the hospital for trying to intervene in a persistent injury.
A news release from the Sheriff’s Office did not provide details.
Davis and Maragon were arrested on felony charges and posted bail. Both are on administrative leave.
Davis is expected to be charged with a misdemeanor battery of five counts, a battery that causes serious injuries, the use of force that could cause serious injuries, serious injuries to his spouse and potentially burden the criminal threat.
Maragon faces two charges that cause serious injuries and the use of force, which can cause serious injuries. Court records show that both agents will appear before court on May 28th.
“We want to assure the public and our community that the sheriff’s office takes this issue very seriously,” Sheriff Jim Flikhov said in a statement. “We maintain our agents at the highest standards of conduct, and violations of these standards will be addressed appropriately without hesitation.
The Sheriff’s main Crime Bureau is continuing to investigate the case. An internal investigation is also underway to determine whether Davis or Malagon has violated departmental policies.
It was not immediately clear how long the agents worked together, nor the nature of their work relationship.
