One of Los Angeles’ most acclaimed restaurants is closed, but the owner told the Los Angeles Times that this wasn’t the end of the story.
Yangban, a Korean restaurant in the Arts District, temporarily closed in December for renovations, but owners Katianna and John Hong said on Wednesday they won’t be reopening this spring as expected.
“A restaurant representative told The Times that Hons is planning to reboot Yanban elsewhere and is currently looking for a new location in Los Angeles,” the Times reported.
This decision has appeared this season of Katyana Hong’s “Top Chef” and she continues to compete in the Canadian set challenge.
The exact reason for closing the Arts District location has not been released. In a statement about the restaurant’s Instagram page, Hongs explained, “Our time in this space was filled with meaningful moments, creative growth and unwavering support from the community.”
“This moment marks a shift, but it’s also the beginning of something new,” added Fragrance. “After spending more than five years in Los Angeles, we have had the opportunity to truly live in this city, and we are explored, connected and inspired by the people and places around us.
“We are in the process of exploring new possibilities, including fresh ideas, new spaces and thoughtful ways to continue sharing our food and stories,” the statement added. “Looking forward to it – I can’t wait to share the next thing with you. Thank you for taking part in our journey!”
