The theft suspect was arrested on allegedly attacking a Ventura County official.
The suspect was identified as Victor Hernandez, 24, of Oxnard, according to the Port Hueneme Police Department.
On April 16, police responded to theft at a Ralphs grocery store at 615 West Channel Islands Boulevard at 1pm.
Upon arrival, officers find Hernandez escaping from the bike area. When police approached, Hernandez allegedly jumped off his bike and threw his bike at the police and attacked one of the officers.
Hernandez escaped from the scene and leapt into the water pipe as the officer chased him.
He eventually surrendered to the police and was arrested.

The police officer was hit with minor injuries. No other officers or bystanders were injured during the incident.
